The historic Protestant churches also suffer calamitous losses, from 60% of the population in 1900 to 18% in 2010. By 2015, over half their membership will be over age 65, in both the many Calvinist denominations and in most of the Free Churches. Pray for:
a) Spiritual renewal and dynamism to replace empty traditions, structural rigidity and increasingly irrelevant theological disputes in some Christian traditions.
b) A recommitment to Scripture and biblical holiness, instead of free-thinking liberalism and tolerant pluralism.
c) A prophetic message to society that contains authority and appeals to young people and addresses the tide of secularism, materialism, rampant immorality, false spiritualities and hopeless nihilism.
d) Concern for the salvation of souls in a church climate defined by apathy, lack of spiritual confidence and greater ecclesiastical concern for dialogue than for evangelism.
e) A new generation of leaders possessed by spiritual passion, theological depth, cultural relevance and winsome holiness.
