Foreign missions. Many NGOs assist with Timors great needs, but instability yields constant disruptions and evacuations. Significant missions include Christian Vision, Transformation Alliance, YWAM, WEC and Church of the Nazarene. Pray for:
a) Effective strategies that assist with physical needs, counselling and reconciliation. The governments current emphasis on human development, especially education, opens a door for professionals in these fields to serve. YWAM, JUVEPE and AME opened nursery and/or primary schools; a Filipino school offers language and computer classes. MAF gives aviation support for remote areas. Tentmakers have opportunity to work with the government as lawyers or as educators in universities and national schools.
b) Long-term involvement that models biblical faith and trains and empowers Timorese Christians to finish the task is another great need. Pray for healthy partnership between expatriate workers and national church leaders.
For an additional 3 Challenges for Prayer see Operation World book, CD-ROM, or DVD-ROM.
The Operation World book, CD-ROM, and DVD-ROM provide far more information and fuel for prayer for the people of Timor Leste.
